LIVELY 'Nanny Violet' celebrated her 105th birthday surrounded by family and friends.

A party was held in honour of Violet Lloyd at St Joseph's Residential Care Home in Hindes Road, Harrow, where the mayor of Harrow was a special guest.

Her daughter, Joyce Jones, 81, from Eastcote, said: "It was a fabulous day and the mayor even came. He was so lovely and chatted to my mum, she loved it and he was very friendly.

"She is very popular at the care home and they all say how funny she is."

Mrs Lloyd has two children, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, the youngest of whom is aged 18, and many of them visited on the big day.

The former dinner lady met her husband, William, in Hammersmith where they spent most of their lives.

Mr Lloyd died a number of years ago and his wife, who suffers from mild dementia but is fully mobile, has been living at St Joseph's for six-and-a-half years.

Her daughter said: "She really loves it here and is very happy. We visit my mother a lot and her family all call her Nanny Violet."

We'd like to hear from you.
